Frequently Asked Questions

A quick note on naming: Draupnir is the standard production headphone. Draupnir Launch Edition refers to the original limited run. Draupnir Carbon is the future version mentioned below. Where a question is specific to one edition, we'll name it explicitly.

IS Draupnir a limited release?

No, however, it’s going to be released in batches with approximately 1 month between releases of extra units.

Can Draupnir be upgraded to Draupnir Carbon?

No, as outlined in our blog post, that upgrade path is limited to the Draupnir Launch Edition.

IS the launch edition a limited release?

Yes, the launch edition is limited to 40 units. The subsequent release is just called Draupnir, the carbon version will be called Draupnir Carbon.

When will I get my headphones?

See pre-order updates. We post those regularly or if something changes.

Will the Launch edition be made from plastic?

Yes, the launch edition will be made from MJF nylon for the main parts.

Why is the launch edition made from printed Nylon?

MJF nylon is light, tough, and naturally damping, reducing cup vibrations and resonances. It can also create geometries that are impossible to do in “standard” manufacturing techniques, like injection moulding.

Will I be able to upgrade the Launch Edition when the Carbon Edition is released?

Yes, everyone who purchases the Launch Edition will be eligible to purchase Carbon Edition upgrade parts when they’re released, and the parts will be user-swappable.

If you’d prefer us to handle the swap, we’ll offer an upgrade service; please note that any customs and shipping fees may apply and are the buyer’s responsibility.

What pads will the headphones ship with by default?

The headphones will ship with ZMF Caldera Ultra Perf pads, as those are the most “balanced” overall in our opinion. Pad recommendations will be provided close to release with measurements.

Do you cover customs fees and taxes?

No, customs fees and taxes outside the UK are the buyer’s responsibility.

What couriers will you use to ship the headphones?

We will use DHL Express. If you have a specific courier you prefer, we will try to accommodate that where possible.
